MAIN  ACHIEVEMENTS

According to the order of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine "On assignment of relevant statuses to the subjects of the breeding business in animal husbandry", the laboratory was assigned the status of "Laboratory of Genetic Control".

The laboratory has developed a number of recommendations on various issues of animal breeding, aimed at consolidating and improving breeds in the direction of increasing productivity and improving the quality indicators of cattle products.

The priority area of research was selection and genetic features of cows of various breeds.

The main areas of scientific activity are: the study of patterns of growth and development of young cattle, the exterior and constitution of dairy and meat animals, productivity, reproductive capacity, selection and genetic features, the quality composition of milk and meat, the genetic structure of polymorphic systems and blood groups, productive longevity of cattle.

Laboratory employees have developed:

  • method of step-by-step selection of heifers of Ukrainian Black-and-White dairy breeds based on indicators of weight and linear growth;
  • criteria for selection of Ukrainian Black-and-Red dairy cows based on a complex of selection traits;
  • parameters of selection of breeder bulls of the western inbred type of the Ukrainian Black-and-White dairy breed based on sperm productivity indicators;
  • method of forming high -value genotypes;
  • method of optimizing selection in dairy cattle populations;
  • breeding programs of the western inbred type of the Ukrainian Black-and-White dairy breed;
  • method of stimulation of early lambing of sheep.

Employees of the laboratory are co-authors of the creation of the western inbred type of the Ukrainian Black-and-White dairy breed.

Seven candidate theses and three doctoral theses have been prepared on the basis of the laboratory, four candidate theses and one doctoral theses are being prepared. Employees of the laboratory have published more than 500 scientific works, including 1 textbook, 4 training manuals, 13 monographs, 15 recommendations, instructions, programs and 3 patents for a useful model.
