The Institute of Animal Biology of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine (NAAS) continues to strengthen its cooperation with leading Ukrainian universities and research institutions. Another important step toward expanding interinstitutional collaboration was made during a working meeting held today at Uzhhorod National University.
During the meeting, Professor Yurii Salyha, Corresponding Member of NAAS and Director of the Institute of Animal Biology of NAAS, and Professor Ivan Myroniuk, Vice-Rector for Research of Uzhhorod National University, discussed prospects for deepening cooperation between the two institutions. The discussions focused on the implementation of joint research projects, the preparation of bilateral and international research initiatives, academic exchange, the sharing of scientific expertise and information resources, and the development of interdisciplinary research.
Particular attention was devoted to launching collaborative experimental research within the framework of the internationally recognized One Health concept, which integrates human, animal, and environmental health. The heads of the two institutions agreed to develop a joint roadmap in the near future outlining specific areas of cooperation, mechanisms for implementing collaborative research projects, and opportunities for attracting international research funding.
The discussion was also joined by Professor Maryna Kryvtsova, Doctor of Biological Sciences and Head of the Department of Clinical Laboratory and Morphofunctional Diagnostics at Uzhhorod National University. She proposed initiating joint research on antimicrobial resistance (AMR), one of the most pressing global challenges affecting human health, veterinary medicine, and food security.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a Cooperation Agreement on Scientific Collaboration between the Institute of Animal Biology of NAAS and Uzhhorod National University. The agreement establishes a framework for long-term partnership in conducting fundamental and applied research, training young scientists, organizing joint scientific events, participating in international grant programs, and implementing innovative research outcomes into practice.
The new partnership opens broad opportunities to combine the scientific expertise of both institutions and will contribute to the advancement of modern biomedical, veterinary, and biotechnological research in line with European standards and priorities.
